The key advantages of the uWave modem are its small size and weight – just 41 by 45 mm with a dry weight of 0.16 kg – low power consumption (Rx/Tx) of 0.33/6 W, and ease of use with no setup or calibration. Immediately after power-on, the user gets a transparent channel that requires no knowledge of the modem's control protocol.
Ideal for controlling autonomous underwater vehicles and for data transmission in user applications.

- 16 preset messages available, 9 of them code commands for user applications
- Batch mode data transmission with guaranteed delivery and its notifications, plus logical addressing supporting up to 254 subscribers
- Simultaneous measurement of immersion depth, temperature, power supply voltage of local and remote modems, and distance to them
- Two switchable operating modes: transparent channel mode, forwarding all incoming data to the hydroacoustic channel, and command mode for sending short requests to other devices and 9 user commands;
