uPress underwater button

The device is supplied together with RedPhone and lets a diver start transmitting voice underwater by simply pressing the button with any part of the palm. The button's design is protected by patent RU 2831916 C1.

uPress buttons are not sold separately. You can purchase our RedPhone telephone system or RWLT navigation system, both of which include RedPhone units fitted with the uPress button.

Purpose

uPress is an underwater switch designed specifically for divers. It has no serviceable or corrosion-prone parts, and according to the specification it offers higher reliability and time between failures than spring-rod designs and piezo buttons. On the RedPhone-DX diver station the button acts as the push-to-talk switch: the station transmits voice for as long as it is pressed.

Specifications

The button is normally open. The housing measures 86×60×23 mm, the weight including the standard-length cable is 55 g, the maximum working depth is 140 m and the operating temperature range is −20 to +50 °C. Travel to actuation is 3 mm at a force of 16 ± 2 N, and the life is 10⁵ actuations. The button switches DC and AC current of up to 0.5 A at 0.05 to 100 V, with a maximum switched power of 10 W. The housing and cable insulation are polyurethane, the cable is 0.5 m long (can be changed by agreement) and 5 mm in diameter, and the housing has a loop for a cord or strap.

Colors and compatibility

The housing and the pressing element can be combined in different colors; for orders of 50 units or more, painting in any color from the RAL catalog is possible. The button is used in the RedPhone system and in the RWLT navigation system, which use RedPhone stations.
