RT-2.332820-1 transceiver antenna

The RT-2.332820-1 antenna consists of two cylindrical elements connected in parallel. This ensures maximum efficiency of the device in data transmission mode.

Purpose

RT-2.332820-1 is a two-element transceiver antenna with increased sensitivity for surface-side operation. It works for both transmission and reception, and connecting the two elements in parallel doubles the antenna's electrical capacitance compared with the single-element RT-1.332820-1.

Key specifications

According to the specification, the maximum applied voltage (peak) is 200 V, the electrical capacitance is 30 ± 5 nF, and the maximum external hydrostatic pressure is 30 bar (about 300 m of water column). Within 10–40 kHz the directivity pattern is a torus coaxial with the cylinders, with a beamwidth of 90° at the 3 dB level (120° for the single-element antennas in the range). The operating temperature range is −40 to +60 °C. The shielded, polyurethane-insulated cable is 1 m long as standard.

Compatibility

RT-2.332820-1 is one of the antenna options for the uSwitch hydroacoustic modem and is among the transceiver antennas compatible with the ACubes kit. If size and weight matter more than transmit efficiency, you can choose the miniature RT-1.332820-1 or the balanced RT-1.524525-1 instead. For the two-element antenna, the documentation also describes the RT-2.332820-2 version with a built-in band-pass filter (receive band 24–33 kHz).
